Rajahmundry: In a major fire accident that took place in Seelam Nookaraju Company godowns at A.V. Apparao road in Rajahmundry, cloth bales worth Rs.10 crores were burnt. It took four to five hours for fire tenders to control flames and there was no loss of life or injuries during the fire accident.

According to fire control officials, the incident took place around 1.30 p.m. and businessmen who kept their loads in these godowns rushed to the spot to save some of the stocks.

Bommana Rajakumar, president of Cloth Merchants Association, said that they received the information that some 6,000 bales were burnt to ashes in the accident and most of them do not have insurance for their stocks as they keep them on weekly basis. However, the reason for fire was not known.
