HYDERABAD: The TDP has blamed the government's neglect of the State capital's fall in cleanliness ranking to the 88th position this year from winning the top clean and green city awards for three times in a row when the party was in power.

At a press conference, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said the latest national survey showed Hyderabad in poor light classifying it as one of the dirtiest cities.

In fact, none of the cities and towns in the State figure in the first 20 listed in the survey conducted by MARG and other organisations for the Union Urban Development Ministry.

Mr. Venkateswarlu said if the survey results are any indication, the Congress would fare badly in the coming municipal elections. Hence it was toying with the idea of holding elections on a symbol-less non-party basis.
