Rajahmundry: The Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC) acted fast on Friday when its water works staff found green-coloured water entering one of its intake well near Puskhara Ghat pumping system.

According to Mayor M.S. Chakravarthi, the staff noticed the pollutant water in one of its intake well and alerted the higher-ups who brought it to the notice of Commissioner C. Nagaraja Rao and Mr. Chakravarthi.

The officials asked the staff to collect the samples of water immediately and they conducted preliminary testing.

The Mayor said the only possibility of chemical pollution was from the AP Paper Mills and the officials concerned asked to give explanation about the leakage.

The Mayor appealed to the public not to take public tap water directly. He advised people to take it after boiling.
