Yadlapalli Pranjala of Hyderabad bagged her first ITF Grade II doubles title when she partnered Vamshika Shawney of Delhi to down Sai Samhita and Vasanti Shinde 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the final in Delhi on Saturday.

Winning a habit

Going by the innumerable AITA titles she has won, winning seems to have become a habit of sorts for the 13-year-old talent, a trainee of Sanjay at the Sun-Jay Tennis Academy at the ASCI Courts.

It comes as no surprise that the ninth standard student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya here, is ranked No. 1 nationally in the under-14 and the under-16 categories and No. 4 in the under-18 section.

Glory for AP paddlers

Young paddlers from Andhra Pradesh did the State proud by winning the gold in the 74{+t}{+h}Sub-junior and Cadet National table tennis championship in Kutch, Gujarat, on Saturday.

The winning team comprising Naina Jaiswal, Akula Sreeja, K. V. V. Vaishali and Varuni got the better of West Bengal 3-1 in the final. While Naina defeated Moumita Dutta 3-1, Sreeja, a student of Rosary Convent School here, beat Koushani Nath with an identical score. The two then joined hands to down Koushani Nath and Moumita Dutta to clinch the win. The win meant 12-year-old Naina, a second-year Degree student virtue of her exceptional brilliance in academics, has won the National team gold for the third year in a row.
