Rajalaxmi Singh Deo has become the first-ever woman from Hyderabad to head any National Sports Federation when she was elected as the new president of Rowing Federation of India. The transition of the baton, incidentally from her husband Col. C. P. S. Deo, was smooth and unanimous when the annual general meeting of the RFI was held in the City.

“Its a great honour and huge challenge too,” said Mrs. Deo at the valedictory function of the National rowing championship at Hussainsagar Lake on Sunday. She was an executive member of RFI and State secretary before. Her husband had held the post for two four year terms
