Artistes and groups from the North Andhra may participate in the “Satarupa Kalautsavam 2011” to be organised here by the State Cultural Affairs Department by applying for it, according to District Collector J. Syamala Rao.

Traditional and folk artistes and groups should apply by February 28 for participation by paying Rs.100 for individuals and Rs.200 for groups in the form of a demand draft or banker's cheque in favour of the Director of Culture, Hyderabad. The entries should be sent to the District Collector and Chairman, District Cultural Council, Visakhapatnam. A team will screen the applicants and select them for performance.

Apart from traditional forms, those performing fading folk art forms like puppetry, dummy horse, Chenchu Bhagavatam, Veedhi Bhagavatam, tappetagullu, samugaridilu, pulivesham, pandiripata, kolatam, chekkabhajana, dhimsa and dappuladaruvu may also apply. However, cinema artistes are not eligible. Selected teams have to perform at the “Satarupa Utsavam” at the time and date allotted to them. Best entries from among them will be sent to State-level programme at Hyderabad.

Applications should indicate details of the art form, duration of performance, number of artistes, passport size photo of the group leader and his bio data.
