HYDERABAD: Did you know that ‘Fanta’ was started because the makers ran out of ‘Coca Cola’ syrup? Well, if you didn’t know that, then you sure should bow to the champions of the Regional Finals of the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2009- V.Vivek and R. Daniel of Dhanalakshmi Engineering College.

The quiz held on Saturday saw the participation of over 150 teams from 100 colleges across the State.

The sheer excitement was palpable in the auditorium even as the six final teams battled it out for the championship.

With five out of the six teams representing engineering colleges, the quiz master ‘Pickbrain’ Giri Balasubramaniam heralded it as the new face of Hyderabadi quizzers.

The business quiz covered a lot of aspects from advertisements to people to science and technology. There were a few moments of fun that lightened the mood of the finalists.

The fast-paced final rounds have almost everyone on the edge of their seats.

The audience too got away winning some goodies when those on the dais failed to answer the questions.


The winning team --V.Vivek and R.Daniel -- won the grand prize of Rs.75,000 along with goodies. Raju Satish and Bharat Agarwal of ICFAI Business School carried the runner-up’s baton yet again this year who were awarded a cash prize of Rs.35,000.

They will now compete against 16 teams in the National Finals to be held in Mumbai this month end and are in the race to win a cash award of Rs.4 lakh.
