The City police are fully geared to meet any eventuality in the wake of the threat from cyclone Lehar.

A special cell has been opened with three Inspectors at the Police Control Room to function round-the-clock for coordination and obtaining timely information from the affected areas, according to Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy.

The entire police force of Visakhapatnam City has been kept on standby.

All the patrol vehicles have been instructed to move briskly to the cyclone-affected areas to alert and evacuate people to safer places, based on the need.

Traffic police personnel under the charge of Additional DCP (Traffic) have been deployed to clear or divert the traffic on National and State Highways, which could be affected by overflowing streams and falling of trees across the roads.

All the ACPs will personally monitor the rescue and rehabilitation measures under the respective Sub-Divisions.

ADCPs will personally supervise the bandobust arrangements, which will continue till normality is restored.
