VIJAYAWADA: Considering its strategic location in the coastal region, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is using the city as the hub for mobilising huge crowds for its prestigious “Yuva Garjana” at the sprawling grounds in front of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), 20 km from here, on Wednesday.
The approach to the venue is perceived to be easily accessible from Vijayawada, as there are excellent road and rail connectivity. Most top leaders of the TDP coming from Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad are coming a day in advance to stay in the city for the night and attend the meeting the day after.
As most crowds pass through the city, all roads and highways are decked and filled with TDP’s flags and banners.
National Highway-5 from Gannavaram airport to Kanakadurga Vaaradhi in the city has virtually turned “yellow” with the TDP posters and buntings.
The TDP has considered mobilisation of youth from Krishna district vital and crucial for the success of the meeting, as the Nandamuri family members command clout among the young generation.
The party leaders are expecting huge turnouts from the two Godavari districts and north coastal districts. Train services have come very advantageous for the party to attract more participants.
The city hotels are already filled with top leaders of the TDP and also scores of aspiring young people, who want to contest the coming elections on the TDP ticket.
Active participation and active assumption of some responsibility is perceived among the second-rung leaders, who nurture dreams of making it big with electoral successes, as the best way to get a party ticket.
