It mentions that work has not begun on 29 lakh Indiramma houses yet
HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has released the AP State Housing Corporation circular that makes mention of 29 lakh houses not being started yet under Indiramma scheme to contend that it calls the bluff of the government.
Addressing a press conference, party leaders -- Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy, G. Sayanna and J. Durgaprasad -- said the circular exposes the government which had all along made tall claims of completing 40 to 50 lakh houses during the last five-and-a-half years. The government had even made the Governor speak falsehood in his customary address to the Assembly and the Council.
In the circular dated September 18, sent to the district Collectors, executive directors and project directors of the corporation, the Managing Director says how more than 29 lakh houses sanctioned in the three phases of Indiramma housing a year ago had not been started. The MD asked the former to delete such “not started” houses and replace them with eligible beneficiaries who had started construction.
Merging IAY houses
The TDP leaders said while it was clear that the government had not built 29 lakh houses, it committed another irregularity of diverting and merging the 11.91 lakh houses under Central government’s Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) into Indiramma and then claiming credit for it. They said it was no surprise that the government refused to concede the Opposition demand for a Joint House Committee into these irregularities. At least now it should come clean and order a thorough inquiry.
