Narasampet Rural Circle Inspector Sivasambi Reddy has been placed under suspension for colluding with an offender.
Warangal range DIG M Kantha Rao issued order to this effect here on Thursday.
According to the officials, the Circle Inspector seized huge quantities of jaggery used to make illicit liquor from a shop and released the stock to the accused after receiving money.
Narsampet Sub-Inspector G. Yakaiah on June 25 seized a shop in the town for stocking up black jaggery weighing about 200 quintals and 90 bags of alum used for brewing liquor illegally. However, when he visited the shop after a couple of days to shift the seized material to the court he found only 30 kg of jaggery. When the police official enquired with the trader about the missing stock, he was told that the CI sold him back the material seized by the police.
The SI brought this issue to the notice of Narsampet DSP K.G.V. Saritha who enquired into the incident and submitted a report to higher officials.
The DIG acted swiftly on the report and placed the accused official under suspension.
