Plans to hold a series of programmes for entrepreneurs
VISAKHAPATNAM: As the city of destiny is booming with the industries of software, apparels, pharmaceuticals, textile and granite processing, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is planning to widen its network and encourage entrepreneurs by opening its zonal office in Visakhapatnam shortly.
CII Andhra Pradesh Chairman Utpal Sen Gupta told media persons that the office would dedicate itself for the benefit of local industries. The CII membership strength, which is 35 at present in Visakhapatnam zone, would grow leaps and bounds in the days to come.
The CII had taken various initiatives to boost up small and medium industries in the steel city and plans to hold a series of programmes in Vizag in future.
They include advantage IT @ Vizag; seminar on tourism – a blue print for Vizag; exim excellence 2008; conference on HR; Linkage 2008; agripreneurship – focussing on farming and fishing and an interactive session with the Pollution Control Board, he said.
CII Vizag zonal Chairman C.G. Patil highlighted the industrial importance of Vizag and the advantages of entrepreneurs if they set up shops in the city which had good port, steel plant, thermal power generation unit, zinc factory, HPCL refinery, Naval Dock Yard etc.
CII Vizag Vice-Chairman K.V. Bhaskar said the CII and the Andhra University were jointly working on strengthening the education system and facilitating knowledge partnership for employability of students.
CII Andhra Pradesh Director and Head Saugat Mukherjee said the State council of CII would soon meet the members of Vizag zonal council to discuss growth opportunities in the city.
