ELURU: M. Babu Rao, Lok Sabha member of CPI (M), on Friday demanded action against the factory management which was responsible for leakage of chlorine leading to the death of one person and hospitalisation of several others at Saggonda in West Godavari district recently.

He urged the Government to pay compensation to family members of the person killed in the accident. The MP criticised the district administration and the authorities of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) for failing to rein in the factory management.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) district secretary M. Sitaram, in a separate statement, demanded criminal action against the factory management for its failure to adopt precautionary measures, leading to chlorine leakage.
