Chittoor district in-charge Minister K. Parthasarathy on Tuesday said the Rs.7,200-crore mega drinking water project for Chittoor district will provide permanent solution to 45 mandals in the first phase and 20 mandals in the second phase. He was taking part in the last day of the III phase of Rachabanda at Yadamari mandal headquarters near Chittoor.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that steps were taken to provide agriculture loans to tenant farmers in the State, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India. He said so far, as many as 2,267 families were benefited in the district under the Bangaru Thalli scheme.

Mr. Parthasarathy said that he would take steps to sanction junior college in Yadamari by taking the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister.

Puthalapattu MLA P. Ravi said that the government had sanctioned Rs.100 crore for the development works in Puthalapattu constituency for the year 2013-14. He said the mega water project would also bring permanent drinking water source to the constituency.

Later, the Minister inaugurated Indira Sthree Sakthi Bhavan constructed at a cost of Rs.28.5 lakh at Yadamarri. Chittoor RDO Penchala Kishore, MPDO Ravi Kumar, Tehsildar Ramesh and other officials were present.
