People, especially the youth, had come only to have a glimpse of the film star

‘Sircilla declaration had nothing new to offer to help powerloom weavers’

‘Chiranjeevi does not know anything about the Singareni Collieries’

KARIMNAGAR: Terming Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi’s road shows as a flop show in Karimnagar district, Government Whip and DCC president D. Sridhar Babu alleged that the film actor-turned politician had only ‘acted’ for the entertainment of the public during his yatra.

Talking to newsmen along with Minister for Endowments J Ratnakara Rao, ZP chairman Arepalli Mohan and others here on Monday, Mr. Sridhar Babu said that Mr. Chiranjeevi was confused after seeing the development works taken up by the State government and he was unable to identify a particular problem in the district. “Mr. Chiranjeevi is not having any clarity about what he wanted to do with his party or how he would solve a particular problem”, he said.

Political mileage

Refuting the claims on the response for the Praja Ankita yatra, the Government whip said that the people especially the youth had come only to have a glimpse of the film star during the yatra. He flayed the PR leader for making allegations against the Congress party for gaining political mileage without understanding the facts about the progress in the region.

He said that the PR Sircilla declaration had nothing new to offer to help the powerloom weavers. Instead, the declaration was very much confusing with the distribution of only seven to eight hours of free power supply to the powerlooms against 24-hour supply, he said. He said that Mr. Chiranjeevi does not know anything about the Singareni Collieries and was searching for issues during the road shows.

No clarity

Minister for Endowments J Ratnakar Rao said there was no clarity on the PR leader’s statement on Telangana statehood issue. “Who is he (chiranjeevi) to extend unconditional support if the Centre proposes Telangana state. Whether the PR has contested elections or won MP and MLA”, he questioned.
