Local fans of Mega Star accord a rousing reception to NRIs
ELURU: The car rally launched by the NRIs from the temple town of Tirupati recently with an appeal to Mega Star Chiranjeevi to make a debut into politics at the earliest, rolled into West Godavari district on Monday on its way to Srikakulam. The NRIs were accorded a rousing reception by the ‘Chiru’ fans from West Godavari district on their entry from the neighbouring Krishna district. A procession was taken out from the RTC new bus stand to old bus stand on this occasion. The NRI fans raised slogans, underlining the need for Chiranjeevi launching a new political party as a viable alternative to the present political establishment. A hand-out circulated by the NRIs stated that it was only Chiranjeevi, who could cleanse the present political set up riddled with corruption and ensure equal opportunities to all.
Meanwhile, a charitable trust was founded by a group of city-based business people, industrialists and professionals in the name of Chiranjeevi on Monday with an objective to help economically backward students pursue their education. Addressing a press conference, trust chairman G.V. Ram Babu said the trust would financially help 25 students with poor economic background from the city every year. He said the Mega Star’s service activities had inspired him to take a lead in founding the trust. Sivashankar Lunani, Director, Sri Krishna Jute Mill, M. Pridhvi Raju, Managing Director of Siti Cable and Daniel, Assistant Professor of Sir C.R. Reddy College, had volunteered to be members of the trust, Mr. Ram Babu added.
