“I will remain in the TDP till my last breath,” party MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar from Denduluru in West Godavari district declared here on Saturday.
Mr. Prabhakar said, “Our party leader N. Chandrababu Naidu has sought an explanation from me and I made it clear that there was no question of leaving the party.”
Refuting a report published in these columns in the wake of his meeting Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy at Jangareddygudem on Friday, he maintained that he had done no wrong.
“I met him at a public function to press for a grant of Rs. 5 crore under the SC and ST Sub-Plan for development of SC habitations in my constituency,” he said. Till date, I have met the Chief Minister as many as 20 times and will continue to do so until my request is conceded, he added.
Mr. Prabhakar pleaded innocence in the case registered under the Andhra Pradesh SC and ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act against him for allegedly assaulting a Sub-Inspector in his constituency.
