Zhang Yan promises sizeable Chinese investments in Hyderabad
Lauding Hyderabad for being a hub of industries, Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan has assured that sizeable Chinese investments will be made in the city in different sectors.
The envoy called on Chief Minister K. Rosaiah at the Secretariat on Thursday at the head of a high-level Chinese delegation and held discussions with him on a variety of subjects. This was the first visit to the State by Mr Zhang Yan, a senior diplomat working as the Ambassador in India since 2007.
More visits promised
A press release said Mr. Yan told the Chief Minister: “Hyderabad will hereafter be the focal point for Chinese investors. More Chinese leaders and delegations will visit the city in future. The city has emerged as the hub of pharmaceutical industries, information technology, biotechnology and research and development. We have taken note of this fact.”
He said he was impressed by the progress of the State, particularly the Shamshabad International Airport, Hitec City, the large number of Information Technology companies and historical monuments.
A “China week” will be organised here marking the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between India and China. Films on China and its achievements will be screened. A similar event would be held in China about India.
Boost in ties
Mr Zhang Yan said he expected a big boost to India-China ties in the areas of education, culture, trade, industry, IT, BT and agriculture. “We are fully aware of the importance of Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad and let us move together with mutual cooperation in these fields.”
Mr. Rosaiah said India and China were emerging as super economic powers. “We are neighbours and have time-tested relations.” He invited Chinese investments, offering whatever cooperation was required. The Chief Minister requested the envoy to include Hyderabad in the itinerary of the Chinese Prime Minister during his forthcoming visit to India. The envoy invited Mr Rosaiah to visit China.
