The district-level competitions of the Children’s Science Congress will be held at Kothagudem and Wyra on October 21 and 22 respectively, said DEO Ravindranath Reddy.

Announcing this at a division-level workshop on the “21st National Children’s Science Congress-2013” held here on Friday, Mr Reddy exhorted the teachers to motivate the students come up with innovative scientific projects on the specified themes of the Children’s Science Congress.

The competitions will be held on the focal theme “Energy: Explore, Harness & Conserve.” The sub-themes include Energy Resources, Energy Systems, Energy and Society, Energy and Environment, Energy Management and Conservation. He said the Science Congress will help develop interest in science and research among children. It will provide an excellent opportunity to the schoolchildren to come up with innovative ideas and scientific solutions to the energy problems in their locality and society.

The district and State-level Children’s Science Congress will be organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science & Technology in association with the Department of School Education and the State Council of Educational Research & Training. Children’s Science Congress district coordinator S. Chalapathi Raju and others spoke. Science teachers from several schools participated .
