In a bid to arrest child trafficking, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has decided to register cases against those involved in the offence and the process is expected to begin in a day or two. In the past one-and-a-half year, as many as 12 cases of sale or abandonment of children has been reported in the district. In one of the incidents, mother herself left the baby girl at the government hospital after delivery. And a majority of these cases were being reported from tandas in Narsapur Assembly constituency. But, so far, no cases have been registered against either parents or traffickers and the CWC’s decision to slap cases against the offenders would curb the growing menace.
