The Department of Fine Arts, Andhra University, is organising a three-day charity show of the works of its final year student Limmala Satya Suman, who passed away recently. “The exhibition of sketches, drawings, paintings, sculptures, and prints is being organised in memory of the artist, whose untimely death on October 2 put an end to his dreams of doing master’s and making it big in the art world,” associate professor and HoD of Fine Arts Srinivas Sistla said. Describing Satya Suman, who was specialising in painting, as a humble, honest, and loving person, the professor said the artist had produced remarkable works, both in quantity and quality.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of the works would be given to members of the family of the artist and the remaining would be used to create a corpus for instituting an annual scholarship to a student in his name, the professor explained. The exhibition would be inaugurated by principal of College of Arts and Commerce, Andhra University, K Sreerama Murthy, at the Department of Fine Arts, near Shivaji Park, on Friday. The exhibition would be open between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. till October 14, the professor said.
