Government was forced to modify the postings of two senior police officers, after an officer expressed his ‘unwillingness' to take the new posting citing personal reasons, officials said.

Sources said A.B. Venkateshwar Rao, posted as Joint Commissioner, Crimes, Hyderabad, steadfastly refused to take his new posting.

Consequently, he was retained in his post – IG APSP Battalions. As a result, Mr. P. Sitharama Anjaneyulu who was promoted and posted to Battalions is now shifted as IG of Grey Hounds in the existing vacancy. The government's decision to make Mr. Sitharama Anjaneyulu as IG of Grey Hounds raised quite a few eyebrows among police top brass. He was embroiled in a controversy over sending of text messages to a woman when he was working as Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada recently.

Sources also disclosed that Mr. Atul Singh, who was posted as DIG of Karimnagar Range, was also ‘unwilling' to take charge.

As a result the new IG of Warangal zone, Anjani Kumar was instructed to take additional charge as DIG, Karimnagar Range also.
