The Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry has extended its solidarity and support to the South India bandh call given by the lorry owners' associations from the intervening night of August 2 and 3 over the toll fee issue.

Chamber president G. Subba Rao and general secretary R. Venkateswarlu said that the Central and State Governments should consider the demand of lorry owners for a rationalised collection of the tax from the vehicles at the toll gates. The Chamber also wrote to the Union Government and Chief Minister K. Rosaiah in support of the lorry owners' demands.

The Vijayawada Taxi Owners' Welfare Association extended its support to the bandh.
