Outgoing Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited A.P. Choudhary on Monday observed that the level of competency was more in building the state-of-the-art Wire Rod Mill-2 at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
He made this observation while inaugurating the coil compactor system of WRM-2, which will roll out special steel to cater to the needs of various customers domestic as well as global.
With this the stage has been set for the formal inauguration of the automated WRM-2 built at a cost of over Rs. 850 crore.
The most modern WRM-2 technology was supplied by Morgan Construction Company of USA and has the capacity to produce six lakh tonnes of wire rods and special steels annually.
He also inaugurated Spoorti and Krushi Gardens, developed with in -house talent and also planted saplings in the new garden to mark the occasion.
Mr. Choudhary said several technological advancements were adopted in the construction of the WRM-2. It was a challenging task before every one and particularly, the Projects Department, in carrying out the next phase of expansion of four million tonnes to reach to 11-12 million tonne capacity, he said.
