Chadalavada Krishna Murthy, who was officially declared by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu as the party's choice for the Tirupati Assembly constituency in the ensuing by-election on Monday, kicked off his election campaigning at Tirumala.
Murthy – a one time legislator who was elected to the State Assembly on TDP ticket in 1999 met party leaders and workers and sought their co-operation in the by-election.
Ahead of kicking off his election campaign, he broke coconuts at Akhilandam situated in front of the main temple complex.
Apart from meeting shop keepers at the massive shopping complex, he also paid a visit to Balaji Nagar which is inhabited by over 1,200 families.
The Tirupati Assembly seat fell vacant following resignation of K. Chiranjeevi who got nominated to the Rajya Sabha recently.
