HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has urged the Centre to restore the Above Poverty Line (APL) allocation for the present year to the level of 2007-08 amounting to 21.13 lakh metric tonnes a year.

In a letter to the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the Centre had allotted 87,674 MPS or rice per month for BPL and 1.31 metric tonnes for APL category for the year 2009-10. If If Centre restored the quota, the State would be able to fulfil its subsidised rice scheme.
