TIRUPATI: Dheerendra Nath Chakravartty, retired Director of Information and Public Relations, Government of Assam and a senior journalist has expressed anguish that the callous and indifferent attitude of the Central government towards the twin-problem of Bangladeshi infiltration and mass conversion of tribals into Christianity in the North-East region of the country would make the strategic frontier go into the hands of either China or the Islamic forces from Bangladesh.

Addressing the members of ‘Pragna Bharathi’, Tirupati he said it was time the Centre perceived the issue as a ‘national problem’ and addressed it with all the seriousness it deserved .
