Government should take firm steps to prevent incursions, he says
Squarely blaming the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre for the alleged Chinese incursion into Indian Territory, brutal murder of Indian national Sarabjit Singh at a prison in Pakistan, former BJP national president M. Venkaiah Naidu has demanded that the Centre should cancel the scheduled visit of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid to China.
“The government should take firm steps to protect the territorial integrity of the nation and prevent incursions. The series of untoward incidents be it the ghastly beheading of two Indian jawans by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control in Poonch sector earlier this year and the latest brutal killing of Sarabjit in Pakistan exposed the inaction of the UPA government to firmly deal with such dastardly attacks,” he charged. Mr. Venkaiah Naidu was interacting with people from a cross section of society including academicians, advocates, doctors, and businessmen at an interactive session “Athmeeya Samavesham” held here on Saturday. BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy and others were present.
“The scam-tainted UPA government has miserably failed on the external affairs front as was evident from the unabated anti-Indian activities in Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh,” Mr. Naidu alleged accusing the UPA government of remaining a mute spectator to the killing of Tamilians in Sri Lanka and massacre of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
On the separate Telangana issue, he said the NDA will include the issue in its election manifesto. He reiterated that the BJP would carve out separate Telangana State within 100 days if voted to power at the Centre. Let the UPA government table a bill on separate Telangana in the Parliament, our party will extend its full support to it, he said. The regional parties cannot carve out separate Telangana on their own as they have to invariably depend on the national parties, he said in reply to query.
Later, talking to media persons Mr. Venkaiah Naidu alleged that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu were making unrealistic promises to each and every section. The people should chose right public representatives by taking into consideration character, calibre and ideological commitment, he said.
The internal bickering in the BJP in Karnataka has affected the image of the party to some extent, he said in reply to a question. However, it had not shown any negative impact on administration. Karnataka bagged the Central government award in implementation of the MGNREGS, he said.
In response to a question, he said, “Narendra Modi led BJP government in Gujarat has won the hearts of people by virtue of its development endeavour.”
