A Central team on Wednesday visited the flood-ravaged Kamanpur, Manthani, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Thimmapur and Bejjanki mandals to assess the damage caused to crops, minor irrigation tanks, roads and other infrastructure in Karimnagar district on Wednesday.

The team led by Rajpal Singh, Planning Commission Deputy Commissioner, A. Paramesham, Superintending Engineer, Central Water Commission, and A.D. James, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, accompanied by Collector G.D. Aruna, Joint Collector Ch. Vijaymohan and others toured the flood-affected mandals. They examined the breached minor irrigation tanks, sand castings in the fields roads damaged in various parts of the mandal.

The Collector submitted a report urging the government to release assistance of Rs. 173 crore for the restoration of roads, repairs of tanks and other infrastructure.

Bad roads

The committee members were shocked to see the bad condition of roads between Swashakhi College to Ganeshnagar and Saikrishna theatre locality in Baghatnagar localities.
