Party president to honour heroes of Telangana Liberation Movement

Plea for celebration on September 17

Public meeting at Nizam College grounds

NIZAMABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party State general secretary K. Lakshman has demanded the Government officially celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day on September 17. “Otherwise, our party will launch agitation at all district headquarters in Telangana”.

If the Government failed to concede to the BJP’s demand the party leaders would meet the Governor and submit a memorandum. It would also conduct a huge public meeting at the Nizam College grounds. The party national president Rajnath Singh would honour the heroes of Telangana Liberation Movement in the meeting.

Expressing serious concern over the alleged appeasement policies of Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi to lure the Muslim minorities with an eye on their vote banks, he said it was a dangerous tendency and which would push the State into jeopardy.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the recent attack on Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrinin Hyderabad by the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen activists and MLAs was reminiscent of Razakars’ actions. He said the MIM MLAs lost their right to continue in the Assembly after attacking the unarmed woman.

Dr. Lakshman said the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu being afraid of losing Muslim votes were not in favour of official celebration of the Telangana Liberation Day.

The BJP leaders Baddam Linga Reddy, Govardhan, Y. Lakshminarayana, Muralidhar Goud, Gangamma and Bharath Reddy were present.
