The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Visakhapatnam branch, has registered a case of misappropriation of public money against four Postal Department employees of the Sub-Post Office at Yeleswaram in East Godavari district. K. Rajendra Prasad, the then Sub-Postmaster, I. Satyanarayana and P. Appalaswamy, the then postal assistants and S. Veeraraju, Grameen Dak Sevak had allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy between October 21, 2009 and September 29, 2012 to cheat the Postal Department.

In pursuance of their conspiracy, allegedly the Recurring Deposit amounts received through agents, collected from different depositors under the Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY), during the above period, had not been entered into the Post Office Accounts, and thus a total amount of Rs.30,55,100 of the depositors’ money in 153 RD accounts was allegedly misappropriated, causing a loss to the Postal Department and the depositors, according to a statement issued by the the Deputy Inspector General, CBI, Visakhapatnam branch G. Nageswara Rao on Wednesday.

CBI officials conducted searches at the residences of the accused officials at Tanuku in West Godavari, Addateegala, Jaggampeta and Rangampeta in East Godavari district and seized incriminating documents.

The case is under investigation.
