Hi-tech copying case in entrance of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh

Sleuths of the CBI conducted verification of some certificates of medical students belonging to the State here on Thursday and Friday to ascertain from Dr. NTR University of Health Science (NTRUHS) here whether they were genuine.

A three-member team, which arrived in the city on Thursday, conducted the verification late into the night on Thursday and till Friday afternoon and scanned the marks memos, transfer certificates and other documents.

The CBI officials, who unearthed the hi-tech copying in the entrance test of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, recently, found that some students who supposedly had done MBBS in the colleges affiliated to NTR Health University, appeared for the test with fake certificates. There were rumours that a medico from Nandyal of Kurnool district was booked, along with few other students, while resorting to copying in the PG entrance test, a few months ago.

The CBI verified names of the medical colleges, students and the marks allotted to each student. University Vice-Chancellor I.V. Rao confirmed that the CBI had conducted verification. Registrar S. Babu Lal said that the investigating team verified the certificates of about 30 medicos.
