Some 10,000 candidates in the fray

HYDERABAD: Nearly 10,000 students from the State are expected to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) on Sunday for entry into the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other major business schools in the country.

Last year, around 9,300 wrote the examination in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam - the two centres in the State. However, this year Hyderabad will be the only centre and aspirants from across the State have to appear here. While there are no fixed rules to crack CAT, senior academics and senior students say that those who keep their cool in the examination hall will emerge winners since it not only tests the academic skills, but also how candidates make the best use of their limited resources.

The gates at the examination hall would be closed at 10 a.m., so candidates should reach the venue well in advance.

No gadgets would be allowed inside the hall. Seniors say that aspirants should read the instructions carefully and spend at least five minutes to scan the paper. The test duration this year is two-and-half-hours.
