Despite strict vigil by the election authorities and police, distribution of cash and liquor to voters continue unabated in the district.
Officials booked several cases in Krishna district and under the Vijayawada city police station limits in the last few days.
Meanwhile, static surveillance teams, Model Code of Conduct officers, mobile parties, video surveillance teams, police patrolling parties and flying squads are keeping a tab on illegal flow of money and liquor and distribution of gold and silver.
Officials seized illegal money to the tune of Rs. 4.47 crore from various places in the district. They also seized liquor worth about Rs. 1.41 crore, besides booking 119 cases. The Vijayawada police registered 127 cases till April 18.
The Excise Department has already cancelled licences of seven liquor shops and six bars. This is besides the seizure of three petrol bunks for violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
The Krishna district police booked as many as 880 cases and took 1,857 persons into custody, while the Vijayawada city police registered 280 cases and took 1,659 persons into preventive custody.
Election authorities registered close to 418 cases for violation of the Model Code of Conduct in the district.
