44 workers could save themselves from the fire

Cases booked under Sections 337, 338 of IPC

NALGONDA: Police on Friday booked a case against the management of Chandak Laboratories Private Limited in which a major fire accident took place at Kondamadugu in Bibinagar mandal on Thursday night.

The Bibinagar Sub Inspector P. Madhusudhan Reddy told The Hindu that a case was booked against the management under 337 and 338 sections of the Indian Penal Code charging it with ‘negligence’.

Five fire tenders had to fight for more than seven hours to bring the flames under control. “The high flames were doused at 5 a.m on Friday,” the SI said.

The SI said that the drug factory which was established in 1987, produced an intermediately drug, Nicotic acid.

While the 44 workers could save themselves from the fire accident, four persons, including three personnel of the Fire Department, sustained injuries while trying to extinguish the fire. “The condition of one of the fighters is very critical. He is battling for his life with 80% burns,” Mr.Madhusudhan Reddy maintained.
