ELURU: The city police have detained K. Narasimha Krishnamurthy, Deputy Director, and Chalasani Srimanth, a lecturer in the Economics Department, of Sir C.R. Reddy College PG centre here on the charge of assault and wrongful confinement of a lower-rung employee. They were let off six hours after detention in the III-Town police station on Thursday night.
According to city DSP Y. Saisekhar, a case under Sections 323 (causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC was registered against them following a complaint by Chidaraboyina Kumar, a peon.
He was allegedly assaulted on the charge of misbehaving with a woman lecturer. The complainant, however, told the police that he only tried to take the support of the woman lecturer who was passing by at that time while swooning as he was a “known” patient of epilepsy.
