Our country is the true representation of unity in diversity. Unfortunately, people are forgetting our culture and tradition and are getting clouded by western culture.

It is the responsibility of parents to persuade the youth, make them understand the beauty of our culture and integrity and fill their hearts with patriotism. In doing so, the glory of the nation can be regained and the dream of Swami Vivekananda would be fulfilled, Minister for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari said.

Speaking on the occasion of ‘Vivekananda Ratha Yatra’ organised by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama to celebrate his 150{+t}{+h}birth anniversary here on Wednesday, she said that youth and patriotism are the two favourite domains of Swamiji and it is important for the young minds to wake up to his expectation in order to become good leaders in future.

Close to 15,000 students from various educational institutions participated in the yatra which was flagged off by Commissioner of Police Shivadhar Reddy from VUDA Park to Kali Mata Temple. As many as 150 students dressed as Swami Vivekananda and took part in various cultural programmes depicting the theme ‘unity in diversity’. The procession also portrayed life of Vivekananda, his international visits and quotes on 20 vehicles.

Tollywood actor Daggubati Venkatesh emphasised the need to get rid of negative thoughts. “Never let the negative virus get into your beautiful life.

Almost 90 per cent of our energy is wasted by thinking irrelevant things and trying to impress others. Half of our worries can be tackled if we stop comparing ourselves with others.

As Swami Vivekananda rightly said let us live on one idea by conquering fear, stress and restlessness,” he added.

Director of the Centre for Policy Studies A. Prasanna Kumar requested the parents to make their children visit Vivekananda Kendra at least once in their lifetime. He underlined three aspects – work and worship, work as worship and work is worship.

Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax B. Satyanarayana Raju explained his series of failures in life right from his Class X. He also said how Swami Vivekananda’s books have guided him to come out of the blues and motivated him to get through civil services. Swami Nikileshwarananda, Shanatatmananda and Swami Guneshananda of RK Mission, scientist of ISRO T.G.K. Murthy, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University G. Subrahmanyam, and CEO of Symbiosys Technologies O. Naresh Kumar participated.
