VISAKHAPANTAM: A three-day `Vaggeyakara Utsavam' will be conducted by the Visakha Music Academy (VMA) at Kalabharati here in association with Nagasudha Tarangini and Subharathi Music Academy. The music festival begins on Friday.
``The trio of Thyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar and Shyama Sastry are worshipped as `Sangeeta Thrimurthulu' by classical Carnatic music world.Their compositions form the major portion of any Carnatic music concert. The intention of the Vaggeyakara Utsavam is to present the compositions of all of them with their brief biographic sketches'', VMA secretary M.S. Srinivas said.
The compositions of a dozen poets - Patnam Subramanya Iyer, Muthiah Bhagavatar, Swati Thirunal, Uthukkadu Venkata Subba Iyer, Gopalakrishna Bharati, Thyagaraja, Ramadas, Munipalli Subrahmanyam, Purandara Dasa, Annamayya, Mysore Vasudevachary, and Dikshitar would be presented by renowned performers of All India Radio from Chennai, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
The artistes include Mandapaka Sarada, Bhooshani Kalyana Raman, S. Mathangi, Pemmaraju Surya Rao, M.S. Vidya, Roopa Sridhar, Malladi Suribabu, Malladi Narayana sarma (vocal), Komanduri Krishnamachari, and M. Satyanarayana Sarma (violin).
