A high-end car seized from a drunk driver and parked outside the Jubilee Hills traffic police station was stolen within an hour after Saturday midnight.

According to the traffic police, they were checking vehicle drivers in Banjara Hills when a Hyundai Accent car was stopped.

“After checking the driver with a breathe analyser, we found that he had consumed alcohol more than permissible limits,” officials said.

The vehicle was seized immediately and shifted to the Jubilee Hills traffic police station after issuing a challan to the driver.

A few minutes later, the police realised much to their shock that some unidentified persons drove away with the car using a duplicate key.

The police sentry apparently went inside the police station on some work when the car was driven away. The startled policemen immediately lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police. Banjara Hills Inspector M. Sudershan confirmed that a theft case was registered and efforts were on to trace the car with the help of the registration number.

Case against hotel management

In a separate incident, the city police booked a case against the management of ‘The Park Hotel' on Raj Bhavan Road in Somajiguda for running Kismet night club on its premises after the stipulated time.

The club was supposed to function till 12 midnight and liquor can be served till 11 p.m. only.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the pub only to find the management playing music till late night and supplying liquor to guests.

“We have seized the music system for violating norms and a case under the provisions of Indian Penal Code and Excise Act was booked against the management,” Punjagutta Inspector K. Ashok Chakravarthy said.

Officials said disciplinary action would be initiated against a police sub-inspector for misleading high-ups stating that the pub was functioning within stipulated time.
