Woman murdered in her apartment at DD Colony in Bagh Amberpet Sukesh Reddy's friend Rajendra Prasad visits his residence and discovers his friend's mother lying dead in the kitchen
HYDERABAD: A phone call from Pune led to the discovery of the murder of a 45-year-old woman in her apartment at Saibaba Colony in Bagh Amberpet on Thursday.
Renuka Reddy's son Sukesh Reddy had been calling her since morning, but there was no response. Sensing something fishy, Sukesh called up his friend Rajendra Prasad, a resident of Chikkadpally, and requested him to visit the house and inquire about his mother.
When Mr. Prasad went to the flat on the second floor of Aditya Enclave he found Renuka lying dead in the kitchen. Her hands and legs were tied with a nylon wire while her mouth was gagged with a piece of cloth. He immediately alerted the police.
The intruders had strangled the woman to death and escaped with a gold mangalasutram and bangles. The police reportedly took into custody security guard Sharanaiah after the sniffer dog first went to him before stopping near a bus stop. Moreover, the guard was giving conflicting versions about visitors.
"As there are no marks of forcible entry into the house, some known persons could have committed the murder," a police official said adding that other valuables were intact in the house.
Renuka returned to the city on Wednesday afternoon after visiting her mother in Kazipet.Police said Renuka's husband Narasimha Reddy was working in the US for the last six years.
