ELURU: Telugu Desam Party senior leader and former minister Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao on Wednesday urged members of local bodies and graduate voters belonging to the party to toe the party line with respect to selection of candidates for local bodies and graduate constituencies of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council.

Speaking at the district party general body meeting, Mr. Rao, who lost out in the race for securing the party ticket for the local bodies' constituency, wanted aspirants not to let their displeasure over selection of candidates come in the way of the party's winning.

"This is the decision taken by party president. You all stick to it and strengthen the hands of the leader by ensuring the victory of party official candidates," Mr. Vidyadhara Rao said. It may be recalled that the TDP top brass handpicked a Backward Classes candidates Mallula Lakshminarayana for the local bodies' constituency spread over West and East Godavari districts to keep the weaker sections in good humour.

Meanwhile, party former MLA Ambika Krishna said he was subjected to injustice by the leadership on the issue of the party ticket in the last Assembly elections.

Yet, he said, he would strive for the party's success in the MLC elections.
