HYDERABAD: Speakers at Healthcon’90, a workshop on ‘Quality Healthcare for All: Emerging Challenges and Solutions’, here on Wednesday stressed the need for adding infrastructure facilities and initiating systemic changes for better access of healthcare to the majority in society.
Principal Secretary of Health L.V. Subramanyam expressed concern over the growing shortage of physicians in healthcare sector. He sought cooperation of the private sector in providing better healthcare to the poor through public sector infrastructure.
Executive Director of Apollo Hospitals Sangita Reddy stated that structural changes and innovations in the sector were need of the hour. Andhra Pradesh was doing far better than other States in the country in providing better healthcare facilities to the masses through ‘Arogyasri’ scheme, she said.
Managing Director of Lazarus Hospitals Varma Vegesna stressed the need for reducing infrastructure development costs, which was adding to the healthcare costs considerably.
