Principal District Judge V. Jaya Surya said the root cause of various problems in society was the shirking of responsibility at various levels. Participating as a chief guest at the National Law Day celebrations, organised by the Nyayavadi Parishad here on Tuesday, Mr. Jaya Surya said the judiciary was the main pillar which enables people to enjoy their rights as guaranteed by the Constitution. He said the Legal Services Authority, Lok Adalat and free legal camps had emerged to provide equitable justice to all citizens.
The objective of Lok Adalat was to prevent deprivation of the rights of the people due to lack of legal assistance. He called upon advocates to do their bit for creating legal awareness among the general public. The Nyayavadi Parishad could hold camps in this regard. Former Vice Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University V. Balmohan Das called for greater legal awareness on the part of the general public. He called upon advocates to fight for the cause of Samaikyandhra. Bar Association vice-president R. Krishna Murthy and national executive president P. Koteswara Rao spoke. Advocate C.S. Krishna Rao presided.
A photo exhibition, organised on the occasion of National Law Day, was inaugurated by Mr. Jaya Surya. Photographs of 37 legal professionals who had participated in the freedom struggle were put on display. Noted advocates J. Prithviraj and Md. Habeebullah were present.
