Government to extent the benefit free to BPL families

HYDERABAD: A Cabinet sub-committee, headed by Municipal Administration Minister K. Ranga Rao, has been formed to scrutinise the guidelines/recommendations framed by the official committee to regularise occupation of assigned lands in urban agglomerations.

The committee of officials headed by Chief Secretary J. Harinarayana, prepared the guidelines after six sittings and submitted its report to the Government recently.

The Cabinet sub-committee which has Ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao (Revenue), K. Jana Reddy (Home) and D. Srinivas (Rural Development) as members, is expected to submit its own report on the guidelines/recommendations to the Government shortly.

The Government will go ahead with the regularisation after posing the sub-committee report for Cabinet approval.

Meanwhile, the Government on Friday took an in-principle decision to offer the regularisation benefit free of cost in case of `below poverty line' families but limiting the extent regularised to 150-200 sq. yards.
