Says 2009 elections crucial for formation of Telangana
BJP to focus on Telangana, Congress misrule in State
Congress, TD should disclose stand on Telangana issue
KARIMNAGAR: Reiterating that this byelection will not solve the Telangana issue, BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya has said that the 2009 general elections will be crucial for the formation of separate Telangana State.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, he said that the BJP was gearing for the 2009 general elections. The State unit had sent proposals to the national party seeking its permission to contest from all the Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in the State; he said and added that the national party would take a decision on May 1 about contesting in the byelections. He said that the national party had cleared the candidature of K. Laxman from the Musheerabad Assembly constituency.
He said that the BJP’s focus in this byelection would be formation of Telangana, inflation and misrule of the Congress government in the State.
He demanded the Congress and the TDP to disclose their stand clearly on Telangana before going to polls. He alleged that the Left parties were gearing up only to forge an alliance with the parties and not for the Telangana cause.
He demanded the CPI to contest the elections independently and show their strength in the State.
He exuded confidence that the BJP would perform better in the 2009 elections.
