Rs 7. 86 lakhs stolen from an office belonging to Malaysian township at KPHB Colony
HYDERABAD: Burglars struck at five places, including an office belonging to Malaysian township at KPHB Colony since Tuesday and decamped with more than Rs. 7 lakhs and gold ornaments.
In the first incident, thieves broke into the office of Malaysian township by breaking open the plastic asbestos sheet on the rooftop and stole Rs 7. 86 lakhs, that were kept in almirah.
The company authorities had withdrawn Rs. 14 lakh from a bank on Monday. Of the 14 lakh, seven lakh were disbursed to employees towards salaries, while remaining amount was kept in almirah. When authorities verified the amount on Wednesday, they found that cash missing.
"Our inquiries revealed that theft might have committed by the persons who know the topography of office premises," Kukatpally Inspector P. Radha Kishan Rao said. In another incident, burglars broke into the house of a colonel at Trimulgherry on Wednesday and fled with gold ornaments and Rs. 1,000 cash.
Thieves gained entry into the house of Colonel K. S. Kalakoti by breaking open the main door lock and vanished with the booty. The incident took place when the family were away from the house.
In another incident, thieves entered the house of one Kanakaiah at Avanthinagar in Sanathnagar on Tuesday and disappeared with 3.5 tolas gold ornaments.
Burglars also made unsuccessful attempts to burgle two other houses in the same locality, the police said.
