WLL network too to be expanded: official

  • Video, audio and data facilities also will be provided
  • Internet facility to be provided to WLL connections

    VIZIANAGARAM: Chief General Manager of BSNL, AP Circle, R.K. Arnold has said that in addition to the existing 65,000 broadband connections, more will be provided in the next two or three months. Vizianagaram town will get 75 more connections against the existing 100.

    At a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that broadband multi-play equipment would be installed to provide video facility besides audio and data facilities. This would facilitate customers to view pictures on demand and the BSNL would charge for providing the facility, he said.

    Mr. Arnold said that plans were afoot to cover the entire State by installing more number of Wireless Local Loop (WLL) towers in the next eight months.

    Cell service

    Vizianagaram district would get seven more towers, he said, and added that apart from these WLL connections, too, would have Internet facility up to 144 KBS speed and SMS facility.

    The facility would be provided on demand. With regard to cellular service, he said at present there were 13 lakh subscribers in the State and the figure would go up to 18 lakhs in another five months.

    Mr. Arnold later opened the additional floors at the District Telegraph Office. The telephone revenue and accounts section would now be shifted to the new premises. Duplicate phone bills would be issued here.
