ADILABAD: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Chief General Manager (CGM), AP Circle, J. Ramchander, said on Friday that mobile SIM cards would be available on demand by June this year. Besides the two lakh SIM cards to be made available by March, an additional 10 lakh cards would be sold by June-end, he added.
Talking to reporters here along with in-charge Adilabad General Manager A. Ganapathiram during their visit to BSNL offices, the CGM said equipment related to mobile telephones worth Rs. 14 lakhs could not be erected as per schedule due to technical problems. He said that this equipment would be installed by June-end, making it suitable to hold additional mobile phone traffic.
About the internet broadband service, Mr. Ramchander said that only Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Adilabad districts are yet to get the facility. It would be done after April, he added.
Quoting figures, the CGM said the revenue target for the current year was set at Rs. 3,000 crores in the State. It was about Rs. 150 crores in excess of the revenue collected last year, he said. The revenue collections of Adilabad town amounted to Rs. 37 lakhs per month, which was an indicator of BSNL's good performance, he added.
