Abandoned well claims four lives
VISAKHAPATNAM: Four persons met with a watery grave on the banks of the Meghadrigedda reservoir here, when they stepped into an abandoned well. The deceased were S. Varaprasad (25), a private security guard, who was to get married in May, T. Radhamma (30), Venkatalakshmi (32) and Sirisha (10).
A minor girl, Rukmini, who went with them to see the reservoir, was the lone eyewitness to the incident. She ran to the village to get help. The villagers rushed to the spot only to find the four dead.
Telugu actress weds
Hyderabad: Telugu actress Jyothi Lakshmi married a software engineer in Bahrain, a media report said. Jyothi, who has acted in 30 Telugu films, met Darshan Venkatesh during a Telugu Kala Samithi show in Dubai last year. Venkatesh also hails from Andhra Pradesh. "I came for a show and ended up getting married. He is exactly the type of person for me," the 23-year-old actress said. The couple plans to settle down in Bahrain. - PTI
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Teachers' Union appealed to the Government to secure Presidential orders on organising local cadre under the uniform service rules for teachers. The union leaders said the lack of these orders resulted in non-implementation of orders on promotions following court directives.Due to this, appointment of teachers under 2003 DSC for single subjects had not been effected in Mahabubnagar, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam. - Special Correspondent
Couple ends life
KURNOOL: A couple committed suicide at Peddakottala village near Nandyal in Kurnool district on Saturday. According to reports, the couple, Shalibi (35) and Dastagiri (40) set themselves ablaze. Financial troubles were cited to be the reason. - Staff Reporter

Student commits suicide
Nellore: T. Kamakshi (20), a 3rd year student of Narayana Dental College, Nellore, allegedly committed suicide by hanging in her house at Ramji Nagar, Balaji Nagar police station limits, on Saturday. 19 bulk milk units to be set up in Chittoor
CHITTOOR: District Collector S.S. Rawath said that 19 bulk milk units at a cost of Rs. 10 to 15 lakhs each would be started soon in the district for the benefit of milk producers. Talking to the media on Saturday, he said that the units started by the members of DWCRA groups at V. Kota and Gangavarma on experimental basis were making profits. - Correspondent
