Boost for HIV centres

HYDERABAD: AIDS-affected people received a much-needed boost with the Government making a substantial allocation of Rs. 7.20 crores for HIV/AIDS care and support centres, according to G. HYDERABAD: The SCR on Thursday announced a record in the current fiscal achieving 49.74 million tonnes (MT) of originating freight loading till January as against 45.58 MT in the same period last fiscal. Held on theft charge

KADAPA: Kadapa Central Crime Station police arrested Kalluru Srinivasulu Reddy of Pathakadapa on theft charges and seized stolen gold ornaments worth Rs. 80,000 from him on Wednesday night.

The accused confessed to have stolen the ornaments from N. Pedda Gangi Reddy's house at Pathakadapa, D. Narasimha Reddy, Kadapa DSP, and Surendra Babu, CCS inspector, said on Thursday.

Couple ends life

ANANTAPUR: A newly married couple ended life in a suicide pact allegedly by consuming pesticide after their families rejected their love marriage.

The bodies of the couple were found on a dried up tank bed near Lepakshi in the district on Wednesday morning. According to the police, Rangaswamy (28) of Gorantla and Lalitha (20) of Pathapalle in Chitamani taluka of Kolar district in Karnataka got married three days ago against the wishes of their families.

WARANGAL: Congress senior leader and ZPTC member Ghanta Narender Reddy said the State Government had released over Rs. 5 crore towards compensation to the farmers who lost their crop due to untimely rainfall.
